Cool Stuff That We Love

Review: J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League's Kontakt instrument Sub Zero

Yesterday I got my hands on the new Kontakt 5 instrument from Grammy-winning production team J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League, Sub Zero. From the very beginning, everything is made very easy for the user. Loading it into Kontakt is very simple as the ‘Add Library’ function can be utilized. It’s aesthetically pleasing as well with various animations as notes are triggered. Sub Zero has 76 kicks, 93 snares, 49 claps, 82 hats, 30 808s, and 71 sound EFX. The sounds range dirty/gritty to crystal clear and sound really nice right out of the box. With a 4 band EQ, amplitude envelope, pitch envelope, portamento knob for glides(along with legato option), and low/hi-pass filter knobs, you can morph the sounds without leaving the instrument. Options are about as long as J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League’s  production credits. Staying in the double-digit price range($89), it is absolutely worth the investment. Here are links to both a YouTube video as well as where you can get yours copy!
